Thomas "Fats" Waller was one of the greatest pianists of all time. He was born
in New York on May 21, 1904. He qualifies for the IRS Corner due to the inclusion of
several performances included in the soundtrack of David
Lynch's cult film Eraserhead. An adept keyboardist, his delicate touch
contradicted his physical girth. He also pioneered the use of the Hammond and Pipe Organ (as evidenced
by the Eraserhead material).
No jazz completist should be without at least his some of his classic RCA Victor
recordings. Waller died on 15 December 1943 in Kansas City.
