Romeo Blue was born in Neew York City on 26 May 1964. His unusual look, having a
Bahamian mother and Russian father, were further enhanced when he dyed his hair blue and wore
blue contact lenses in high school. It is from this look that he adopted the nom de plume
"Romeo Blue" -- you see, his REAL name is... Lenny Kravitz!
As a child Lenny studied piano, guitar and many other instruments. In 1977 his family moved west -- dad was an NBC news producer and his mom landed the role of Helen Willis on TV's The Jeffersons -- and Lenny enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Among his musical classmates were country diva Maria McKee (Lone Justice and solo) and Saul Hudson (Slash of Guns'N'Roses).
Having already decided to pursue a career in music and "becoming" Romeo Blue, he moved out
of his home (reportedly living in his car for a time) as his parents divorced. He pulled enough
money and talent together to record a ten-song demo. It was this demo that got him signed to
I.R.S. Records. I.R.S., on the strength of the demo, was going to release it in their
new "developing artist" 706xx series, but wanted to break the club circuit and radio with a single,
"Yield"/"Wanted." However, the deal with I.R.S. fell through and no Romeo
Blue material was ever released. Romeo Blue went on his way...

In 1999 he released his fifth album, appropriately entitled 5. Mr Kravitz has garnered two
Grammy Awards and an MTV Music Award. He has charted several times, despite long hiatuses between
releases. This can be (arguably) attributed the universal appeal of his music. His Greatest
Hits collection is now in stores, containing some new material.
