Welcome to the I.R.S. Records Faulty Products Discography!
This discography is divided into several Sections: LPs, EPs, Singles and Faulty
Distributed labels (such as Alternative Tentacles).
Even though this is the second of the four I.R.S. discographies, it will probably be the
last to be truly complete, as Faulty was independent of the mighty I.R.S./A&M distribution
machine of the time (Just ask any store around at the time that tried to order these things).
We welcome additional info to make the list complete!

FAULTY LPs
Aside from the Dead Kennedys LP that instigated the launch of the US Faulty Label, LPs were
numbered into the "Cope" series (which is "Cope" as in Miles Copeland, not as in
"to struggle or contend"). The Dead Kennedys' SP70014 is technically numbered into the
I.R.S./A&M Discography (and is present there as well) even though A&M ended up distributing
neither it nor the single (IR9016) culled from it. In fact, Faulty's address on those two
records is A&M's address! (Read The I.R.S. Story for
more details on this interesting sidenote).

FAULTY Distributed Label Releases
This section of the Faulty Products Discography contains recordings made by
other independent record labels and distributed by Faulty Products. This arrangement
more closely fulfilled the original goal of I.R.S. by attempting to be a centralized
manufacturing and distribution source for a number of small independent operations.
The most significant deal made by Faulty was the distribution agreement with
Alternative Tentacles, Jello Biafra's Bay Area punk label co-venture, and home of his embattled band
Dead Kennedys among others...
By 1983, though, Faulty was faltering and soon Miles shut it down, but not
before a number of important acts and independent labels had blossomed. The
Bangles were well on their way to stardom and Alternative
Tentacles became a powerhouse of US (especially west coast) punk rock.
This list is far from complete because, unlike other similar operations (such as Jem
or Enigma) Faulty did not have catalogs for the consumer readily available. So this
list will grow as more info becomes available -- and we love to get info!
